Tom Stone is the author of “Now Taking the Field: Baseball’s All-Time Dream Teams for All 30 Franchises,” published by ACTA Sports (2019). The book is the result of 20 years of research and provides robust 30-man dream team rosters and starting lineups against RHP and LHP for each franchise. Stone used WAR as a baseline for the analysis, but also considered traditional statistics, honors and awards, and post-season performance. He also compared his selections with past authors, fan surveys, and more.
In this session, Tom will give a brief overview of the book’s genesis and methodology, and then he’ll share his depth chart and lineups for his all-time Tigers. Then, we’ll open it up to questions about close calls for Tom’s Tigers picks and anything you want to ask about the other 29 teams.
