For our first-ever Author Chat on Zoom we invited Tom Stone, author of “Now Taking the Field: Baseball’s All-Time Dream Teams for All 30 Franchises” (ACTA Sports, 2019). The book is the result of 20 years of research and provides robust 30-man dream team roster, starting lineups, and depth charts. Tom uses WAR as a baseline for his analysis, but also considers traditional statistics, honors and awards, and post-season performance. He also compares his selections with those of previous authors, fan surveys, and more. In this session, Tom gives a brief overview of the book’s background and methodology, and introduces his all-time Tigers.
